Henry County, GA Public Conduct: Public Alcohol Use (2026)

Section 3-13-4(6) makes it unlawful for any intoxicated person to enter or remain in a Henry County park or recreational area, and separately unlawful for anyone to consume or use alcoholic beverages or intoxicants there at all. The ban applies to any park or recreational area under the custody, control, ownership, or lease of Henry County that the public uses for recreation. The ordinance then carves out five specific county-owned venues, Nash Farm Park, the arena and building area of Heritage Park, the Locust Grove Event Center, Village Park, and the Henry County Aquatics Center, where beer and wine sales and consumption are allowed for an approved event, subject to written approval from the Parks and Recreation Director, compliance with the county's alcohol licensing rules in § 3-14-22, a police officer present for the full event at the applicant's expense, and, where the venue sits inside Locust Grove or McDonough, compliance with that city's own alcohol rules as well.

A separate, broader exception lets the Cotton Fields Golf Course sell and serve beer and wine under rules set by the board of commissioners or the Henry County Recreation Commission, without the event-by-event approval required at the other five venues. Outside those specific carve-outs, the blanket ban on consuming or possessing alcohol, or simply being intoxicated, controls in every other county park, including neighborhood parks, ball fields, and greenways.
