Exceptions cover premises with a government-issued alcohol license, drinks lawfully bought at a Common Council-designated community event or an adjacent licensee, alcohol from the farmers market, and fermented malt beverages consumed on a commercial quadricycle. Licensed sellers also can't knowingly let a patron leave with an open container except to enter an adjacent community event.
