Muskegon County, MI Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

' It provides that no person on County Park Property shall use bicycles, skateboards, scooters, roller-skates, and other similar devices on any surface except the park roadways, or use them between sunset and sunrise. That means riding a skateboard off a designated park roadway, such as on a trail, lawn, or plaza area, is a rule violation regardless of the hour, and riding on the roadway itself is off-limits once the sun sets until sunrise resumes. The Parks Ordinance defines 'County' as the County of Muskegon and 'Park Property' as all lands, waters, and property administered by the Muskegon County Parks and Recreation department.

Enforcement authority under Section 1 rests with Muskegon County Parks and Recreation employees and deputies of the Muskegon County Sheriff's Office or other law enforcement officers. Violations of any Parks Ordinance rule, including Section 17, are treated as municipal civil infractions and misdemeanors under Section 20, and the County additionally reserves the right to remove a violator from the park without a refund.
