Short-term rental operators in the City of Lafayette can't let their rental generate noise, vibration, glare or odors that unreasonably interfere with a neighbor's property use, and must also follow the parish's separate Noise Control and Nuisance chapters.
Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the operation of a short-term rental shall not generate noise, vibration, glare, odors or other effects that unreasonably interfere or adversely affect another's use and enjoyment of property.

Sec. 73-8 bars short-term rentals from generating "noise, vibration, glare, odors or other effects that unreasonably interfere or adversely affect another's use and enjoyment of property," and folds in Chapter 34's Nuisances and Noise Control articles, Chapter 74's solid waste rules, and Chapter 86's parking rules by reference. The 24/7 short-term rental agent required under Sec. 73-25 must respond to any noise or nuisance complaint within 60 minutes (30 minutes if it comes in between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.) and log it. This chapter applies only within the City of Lafayette limits (Sec. 73-2), not the unincorporated parish or towns like Broussard, Carencro, Duson, Scott, Youngsville or Milton.

Noncompliance can bring a fine and a director-ordered suspension or revocation of the short-term rental license after an informal hearing; a revoked license can't be reissued to the same operator for one year.
