Full Breakdown
Pima County Code § 18.09.020.U.11 states that 'no additional parking is required for accessory dwelling units to accommodate an accessory dwelling unit,' the same provision that lets ADUs on unincorporated land be used as short- or long-term rentals under subsection U.9. Owners still must meet the ADU's own setback, height and access standards, and the rule applies only outside Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, Sahuarita and South Tucson, which regulate parking under their own city codes.
Violations & Fines
This provision is permissive, so there's no parking penalty; violating other ADU standards like setbacks or size can still draw civil zoning penalties up to $750 per day under § 18.95.040.
