Daly City Municipal Code Chapter 5.92 conditions every short-term rental permit on the dwelling having adequate off-street parking and on guests not creating a parking nuisance. The underlying zoning standard in Title 14 (Planning, Zoning and Development) requires at least two off-street parking spaces for a single-family dwelling in most R-1 districts, and the STR permit application requires the host to identify available on-site spaces (typically the garage and driveway). Guests are expected to use only those on-site spaces and any unmetered public street parking that complies with Title 10 (Vehicles and Traffic) — including residential permit-only zones, street-sweeping signs, and red/yellow curb restrictions. Daly City's hillside Westlake and Bayshore neighborhoods have narrow streets where blocking driveways or fire lanes is aggressively cited. The city does not separately operate a residential permit-parking program citywide but enforces 72-hour move rules and sweeping schedules under Title 10. Renting out garage or curbside space separately as 'parking-only' is not permitted under the STR.
