Tehama County, CA Sidewalk & Pedestrian Rules: Encroachment Permits (2026)

Pursuant to the authority granted by Article XI, section 7 of the California Constitution and Streets and Highways Code section 1464, the fees for issuance of Encroachment Permits pursuant to Article 2 (commencing with Section 1460) of Chapter 5.5 of Division 2 of the Streets and Highways Code, including any supervision of permitted work incidental thereto, are hereby established as follows:

a) Minor encroachment permits (including driveway entrances, minor obstructions in the right of way that do not impede the normal flow of traffic, culverts parallel with the right of way, and similar encroachments as determined by the road commissioner) $142.24

b) Major encroachment permits (including road construction work, utility work including temporary and permanent facilities, encroachments the impede the normal flow of traffic, and similar encroachments as determined by the road commissioner) $71.12 per labor hour for work performed by an engineering technician. $91.19 per labor hour for work performed by an engineer. ($300.00 deposit held in trust)

All fees shall be paid in full prior to completion of performance of the services for which the fee is collected.
