Midwest City, OK Sign Regulations: Digital Billboards (2026)

Under Code of Ordinances § 9-394(2)f, adding a digital sign component to an existing sign is treated as routine maintenance rather than a structural change, so it does not trigger the article's nonconforming-sign compliance requirements: as long as the sign's overall structural design is not altered. Section 9-394(6)f confirms the same digital add-on is exempt from that section entirely. A brand-new billboard still needs a sign permit, and § 9-384(c) sets the billboard permit fee at $300 (versus $200 for other permanent signs). Digital message-cycling signs are separately defined at § 9-382 as "automatic, changing signs" and are carved out of the city's banned "flashing sign" category under § 9-385(v)(3).
