Ascension Parish, LA Sign Regulations: Freeway-Facing Signs (2026)

UDC Section 17-2086 governs on-site commercial sign standards parish-wide and sets tiered height limits that specifically favor highway-facing commercial frontage. The baseline cap for any freestanding sign or sign structure is 20 feet. Only one freestanding sign structure is allowed per parcel, though a parcel with frontage on more than one street gets one freestanding sign per frontage. No portion of any sign or sign structure may sit within five feet of a right-of-way line or within 20 feet of the edge of pavement of any public street or highway, and no sign may project into or over a public right-of-way. Anyone who wants to build, install, enlarge or erect an on-site sign, other than a home occupation sign, needs a sign permit from the Zoning Official under Section 17-2090(D) before construction.
