Allentown limits yard/garage sales to four per year over no more than three consecutive daylight days. A sale sign may not be displayed more than 24 hours before the sale starts and must be removed immediately when the sale ends.
Under Allentown Zoning Ordinance Β§1311.15 (Yard Sale Regulations), a 'yard sale' includes garage, lawn, attic, porch, basement, rummage, moving, and flea-market sales at a residence. Each property is limited to four sales per calendar year, each lasting no more than three consecutive days during daylight hours. Advertising is tightly timed: no sign or other advertisement may be displayed more than 24 hours before the sale begins, and every sign must be taken down immediately once the sale concludes. General conduct of garage sales is further covered by Article 712 of the Allentown Codified Ordinances. Because Lehigh County does not zone, these rules come from the city, not the county.
Signs posted too early, left up after the sale, or placed in the public right-of-way are violations; the city may remove them and issue fines under the ordinance.
