Carroll County, GA Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

Section 78-6(a)(1)e of the sign chapter, adopted November 20, 2001 and amended February 19, 2002, permits an individual or entity conducting a yard sale or garage sale to place one temporary sign on the premises. The sign may go up no earlier than 48 hours before the sale begins and must be removed within 48 hours after the sale ends. Size is capped at four square feet of sign area, and the rule limits placement to one sign per premises: a household running a multi-day sale still gets only the single sign.

This on-premise allowance sits inside the residential-district signage list at section 78-6(a)(1), which also covers real estate signs, subdivision monument signs, and signs for churches and clubs, and it applies only to unincorporated Carroll County; Carrollton, Villa Rica, Temple, Bowdon, Whitesburg, Mount Zion and Roopville each administer their own sign codes inside their city limits. Because the garage-sale sign is a temporary sign under the ordinance's general design rules in section 78-10, it is exempt from the requirement that permanent signs be built of permanent materials. 00 per offense, with each day a separate violation.
