Fulton County, GA Sign Regulations: Window Signs (2026)

25(E)(10) still limits them by count, size and lighting. In commercial, industrial park and mixed-use districts, the count cap is not more than three window signs per unit. Each sign then faces a double size test: it may not be larger than four square feet, and it may not cover more than 25 percent of the area of the window it sits in, whichever of the two is less. On a small window, the 25 percent cap binds before the four-square-foot cap does; on a large storefront pane, the four-square-foot cap governs.

Lighting is nearly shut off: such signs shall not be illuminated, except that one window sign may be illuminated, so a unit with three signs can light only one of them. The ordinance also hands businesses a real benefit: window signs are not counted toward the wall sign total square footage, so using the window allowance does not shrink what can go on the wall. Industrial-district (M-1/M-2) properties get a lighter version of the rule: window signs are allowed without a permit as long as they stay within 25 percent of the window area in the aggregate. Inside Atlanta and Fulton's other cities, separate municipal sign codes apply instead.
