Jackson, NJ Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Section 310-6 of the Jackson Township Code directs the Township Clerk to maintain a list of addresses whose owners or occupants have asked not to be canvassed, peddled to, or solicited door-to-door, called the Jackson Township No-Knock Registry. Residents complete a form at the Clerk's office and the list is updated monthly. Enrolled owners or occupants can pick up a display sticker at no charge, and replacements are also free; stickers issued under the prior Ordinance No. 41-08 remain valid. When the Township issues a license to peddle, canvass, or itinerant vend under Chapter 310, the Clerk hands the licensee the current registry, and the licensee is barred from knocking at any listed address; it is the licensee's own responsibility to keep an up-to-date copy.

Section 310-3.B separately bars anyone from knowingly entering private property displaying a no-knock sticker or listed on the registry, even without a license. A canvasser, peddler, itinerant vendor, or door-to-door sales employee convicted of violating the registry provisions faces a maximum ordinance fine of $1,250 for a first offense, up to 90 days in the county jail for any offense after that, and permanent revocation of any license issued under the chapter. Registered residents stay protected without having to re-register each year.
