Jackson, NJ Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Jackson Township permits, rather than bans, outdoor storage of a recreational vehicle, motor home, travel trailer, camper or small boat on single-family properties, but Township Code § 244-169 attaches six conditions. Subsection A forbids storing any of these vehicles within the front yard area, pushing storage to the side or rear of the lot. Subsection B caps a stored recreational vehicle or small boat at 35 feet in length and eight feet in width, and Subsection C limits a single-family residence to one recreational vehicle and one small boat stored outdoors at any time, so a household cannot line up a boat, a travel trailer and a second RV side by side.

Subsection D requires that a recreational vehicle or small boat under the 35-foot/eight-foot size still be stored outside the required rear and side building setback lines of whatever zoning district the property sits in, so the vehicle cannot simply be small enough to ignore setbacks. Subsection E treats these stored vehicles strictly as storage, not housing: they cannot be occupied and cannot be hooked up to utility connections while parked, closing off using a stored trailer as an accessory dwelling. Subsection F requires that the boat or trailer be owned by the property owner, so a resident cannot host a neighbor's or friend's RV or boat on the lot under this storage allowance.
