Jackson Township's commercial vehicle storage rule, Township Code § 244-170A, targets overnight parking rather than banning commercial vehicles outright: it bars any person, firm or corporation from parking or storing a motor-drawn vehicle, omnibus, school bus, pole trailer, road tractor or commercial motor vehicle on land primarily used or zoned for residential purposes between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The section borrows its vehicle definitions directly from Subtitle 1 of Title 39 of the New Jersey Revised Statutes, tying local enforcement to the state's motor vehicle terminology rather than a locally invented list.

Subsection B carves out two exemptions: any commercial vehicle with a gross weight of six tons or less is exempt entirely, so a contractor's pickup or small box truck can be parked overnight in a residential driveway, and vehicles used at or stored upon an active construction site are exempt for the duration of that work. Subsection C adds a separate, harder rule for hazardous-materials vehicles: any vehicle carrying placarded hazardous materials under the federal Hazardous Materials Regulations in 49 CFR cannot be parked or stored anywhere in the Township unless the storage area has been approved by the appropriate agencies and is secured by fencing sufficient to prevent tampering, reviewed against the Township's own codes and ordinances.
