On private property, Toms River Ch. 368 (Nuisances, revised 2018), Brick, Lakewood, Jackson, Berkeley, and shore boroughs prohibit storage of 'junked' or unregistered/inoperable vehicles visible from a public street. Vehicles must be currently registered, inspected, and operable, OR stored inside a garage or fully screened behind an opaque fence. Hurricane Sandy-damaged vehicles stored long-term on bay-front lots are a common violation category. Exemptions: active repair (typically 30 days with a valid notice or permit), classic/antique vehicles under NJMVC Q and QQ designations with proper registration, and vehicles stored on licensed auto-body/repair premises. Removal is handled by township-contracted licensed tow operators (N.J.A.C. 13:45A-31).
