Brick Township prohibits trailers, semitrailers, and truck tractors from being stored on residential zone properties (R-R through R-M). Recreational vehicles and watercraft on trailers may park on residential property for up to 36 hours on the same street or adjacent property, with certain exemptions.
In Brick Township residential zones (R-R, R-20, R-15, R-10, R-7.5, R-5, R-M), no trailer, semitrailer, or truck tractor shall be located, maintained, or stored, whether resting on wheels, blocks, or other support, except for purposes of delivery. Any watercraft, trailer, or recreational vehicle is exempt from this prohibition provided it does not stay parked on the same street or adjacent residential property for more than 36 hours. A recreational vehicle remaining on a parcel for 12 consecutive months is considered a permanent structure requiring a building permit. Boats on trailers must be registered and parked so as not to obstruct traffic sight lines.
Violations of the trailer ordinance carry fines under the general penalty provision. Multiple violation notices have been issued, generating community controversy.
