Any licensed door-to-door vendor may go onto private property for the purpose of selling, renting and/or soliciting for sale and/or rental any goods, merchandise and/or service only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., from Monday to Friday of each week without the specific invitation of the owner or occupant of such private property. At all other times on Monday through Friday and at all times on a Saturday or Sunday, no such door-to-door vendor may go upon private property without the specific invitation of the owner and/or occupant of the private property.

Lafayette City-Parish Code § 70-3 lets a licensed door-to-door vendor go onto private property to sell, rent, or solicit only between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, without a specific invitation from the owner or occupant. At every other time on weekdays, and at all times Saturday and Sunday, the vendor needs that specific invitation first. Section 70-1 makes the whole peddlers chapter apply in both the City of Lafayette and the unincorporated parish -- it is not a rule limited to unincorporated areas. Vendors going door-to-door also need a permit under § 70-61. The rule does not reach the parish's other municipalities, such as Broussard or Youngsville, which set their own peddling rules.
