Schaumburg enforces no-solicitation sign compliance. Solicitors must leave immediately upon encountering a posted no-solicitation or no-trespassing sign. Residents can also register on the Village's do-not-knock list.
Under Schaumburg's solicitation ordinance, licensed solicitors must honor posted no-solicitation and no-trespassing signs. Any solicitor who knocks on a door displaying such a sign commits a violation subject to fines. Residents may post their own no-solicitation signs at their front entrance or property boundary. The Village has also maintained a do-not-knock registry where residents can register their address to be placed on a list provided to all permitted solicitors. Solicitors are required to check this list and avoid registered addresses. Violations can be reported to the Schaumburg Police Department. The no-solicitation protections do not apply to mail carriers, utility workers, government officials, or emergency personnel performing official duties.
Fines up to $500 for soliciting at a posted no-solicitation address. Repeat offenders may have their solicitor permit revoked.
