Schaumburg requires door-to-door solicitors and peddlers to obtain a permit from the Village. Solicitors must carry their permit identification and comply with time restrictions and no-solicitation signs.
The Village of Schaumburg regulates door-to-door solicitation and peddling under its business licensing ordinances. All solicitors, canvassers, and peddlers must obtain a solicitor's permit from the Village Clerk's office before going door-to-door. Applications require identification, background check consent, employer information, and a description of goods or services being offered. Permitted solicitors must carry their Village-issued identification badge and present it upon request. Solicitation hours are restricted β solicitors may only operate between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM (or sunset, whichever is earlier). Solicitors must immediately leave any property with a posted no-solicitation sign. Religious organizations, political canvassers, and nonprofit charitable solicitors may be exempt from permit fees but still must register. The Schaumburg Police Department enforces solicitation regulations.
Soliciting without a permit: fines up to $500. Ignoring no-solicitation signs or operating outside hours: additional fines per offense.
