Shelby, MI Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Section 325-8 of the Village of Shelby Solicitation Ordinance lists prohibitions that apply to every permitted peddler and solicitor. Subsection B is the resident opt-out: no solicitor or peddler may enter or remain on property posted "no solicitors," and none may remain on any property once asked to leave by the occupants, regardless of what the permit otherwise allows. , a single fixed window rather than a seasonal or day-of-week schedule. The same section layers on conduct rules that reinforce the no-knock protections: Subsection A bars blocking or impeding vehicular traffic; Subsection C bars threatening or harassing behavior or creating a nuisance; Subsection E defines and bars abusive activity, including coming within three feet of the person being solicited, blocking their path, repeated solicitation after an objection, threatening gestures, verbal abuse after a refusal, unwanted touching, or spraying any product without consent; Subsection F bars asking a resident to go back inside for something, forcing them to leave the front door; and Subsection G bars asking to be let inside the residence.

Subsection I requires the Village-issued permit to be displayed conspicuously at all times while soliciting. Any Village official or police officer can demand to see the permit under Section 325-9, and a posted-property or after-hours violation is grounds for permit revocation.
