Acworth, GA Soliciting & Door-to-Door: Solicitor Permits (2026)

Acworth Code of Ordinances § 22-112 makes it unlawful to engage in business as a canvasser or solicitor calling at residences for orders, sales, subscriptions or any business without first registering in the office of the city clerk. The registrant must give complete identification, signature and address, the employer's name and address, the products or services involved, the manufacturers or organization represented, and the proposed method of operation in the city, per § 22-112. Section 22-113 clarifies that registering does not itself grant a license to peddle; it only signals intent to canvass door-to-door in compliance with § 22-111.

Section 22-114 requires a registration fee set by the mayor and board of aldermen, valid for 30 days from registration. m. on Sunday. Section 22-118 requires applicants for a business license covering canvassing, soliciting or peddling to be fingerprinted and photographed by the police department, and to carry an identification card bearing their name, address, employer and photo, displayed to any prospective customer on request; the card is effective for 30 days. Section 22-111 separately declares it a nuisance for a solicitor to enter or remain on a private residence contrary to a posted notice such as 'Solicitors, peddlers, salesmen prohibited,' with the police chief and department directed to suppress and abate that nuisance.

Section 22-115 lets the mayor or chief of police suspend a registration for violating this article, any other city ordinance, or state or federal law, with permanent revocation or reinstatement decided by the board of aldermen after a hearing.
