Commercial door-to-door solicitation in Lake County is regulated by each municipality under 65 ILCS 5/11-42-5 authority. Waukegan, Zion, Libertyville, Gurnee, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Vernon Hills and Mundelein each require a solicitor or peddler permit. Typical application requires photo ID, proof of employer/product, background check including fingerprinting or LiveScan, filing fee $25 to $150, and proof of insurance for certain products.
