Full Breakdown
Madera County Code § 5.24.020(D) makes it unlawful for an 'itinerant vendor', a term the code defines to cover anyone who sells or solicits orders on foot, door to door, or from a vehicle, to sell property or services, or solicit orders, anywhere in unincorporated Madera County without first getting a permit from the county tax collector, who acts as the board of supervisors' agent for issuing them. Section 5.24.040 adds a distance rule: no solicitor, peddler, or vendor may transact business within one thousand feet of a school or place of religious assembly. This chapter governs unincorporated Madera County only.
