Dunwoody, GA Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Section 25-42 of Dunwoody's parks and recreation chapter makes it unlawful to engage in any activity in a city recreation facility that requires a permit and/or a ticket without first obtaining it. The chapter builds several specific permit triggers around that general rule. Section 25-35 requires a permit from the parks and recreation director, or the director's agent, before anyone may sell merchandise, run a concession, or engage in commercial or charitable activity in a recreation facility. Section 25-32 bars possessing or consuming alcohol in a recreation facility except during a permitted rental or special event.

Section 25-43 requires that any signage posted in a recreation facility be tied to a permitted rental or special event, or separately approved by the director, and caps temporary event signage at the numbers set in the city's Administrative Guidelines for Special Event Signage and Advertising. Section 25-27 likewise allows amplified sound equipment, ordinarily banned if it disturbs park users, during a special event or rental event covered by a written permit. Enforcement of all of these permit requirements runs through section 25-2, letting any authorized law or code enforcement officer issue a citation or warning, or simply order noncompliant participants to leave, and section 25-3 ties any chapter 25 violation to the Code's general penalty in section 1-6, which lets each day of an unpermitted event count as a separate offense.
