Sioux Falls, SD Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

City code bars bands, processions, parades, military displays, entertainment, exhibitions, or public meetings in any park, and bars reserving a picnic shelter or portion of a park, unless the Parks and Recreation Director authorizes it in writing first. A separate section requires a permit for after-hours park use or reservation of any special-use area. The director must issue a permit unless the activity would threaten public health/safety, invite disturbance, create unusual policing costs, or the space is already booked for that day and hour. A refused applicant can appeal in writing within 10 days to the Parks and Recreation Board.
