Arkansas Concealed Handgun Carry License Rules

Arkansas Code 5-73-301 et seq. authorizes the State Police to issue concealed handgun carry licenses to qualifying adults completing training and a background check. An enhanced license permits carry in additional public places after extra training. State law preempts local concealed carry regulation. Locations such as schools, courthouses, and certain government buildings remain off-limits. Reciprocity exists with many other states. Violations of carry restrictions can result in misdemeanor or felony charges depending on location and conduct.

Carrying a handgun in a prohibited location is generally a Class D felony; license violations may bring license revocation, fines, and criminal penalties.
