Connecticut Open Carry Allowed With Pistol Permit

Connecticut law does not distinguish between open and concealed carry of handguns. CGS Section 29-35 requires a valid pistol permit for carrying any pistol or revolver in public, whether visible or concealed. While open carry is technically lawful with a permit, displaying a firearm in a manner intended to alarm others may trigger breach of peace charges under CGS 53a-181. Long guns generally cannot be carried openly in public absent specific lawful purpose such as hunting or transport to a range.

Carrying without a valid permit violates CGS 29-35 (class D felony); breach of peace may add separate charges.
