Indiana Statewide Juvenile Curfew Law Applies Universally

Under Indiana Code 31-37-3-2 and 31-37-3-3, statewide juvenile curfew applies as follows: children under 15 may not be in public places between 11 PM and 5 AM any night. Youth ages 15, 16, and 17 may not be in public between 1 AM and 5 AM Saturday or Sunday, and between 11 PM Sunday-Thursday and 5 AM the following day. Exceptions include accompanied by parent or guardian, traveling to or from work, attending or returning from a school, religious, or civic event, or in case of emergency. Violations are status offenses subject to juvenile court jurisdiction. Cities may add stricter local curfews but cannot weaken state requirements.

Curfew violations may result in detention, parental notification, and adjudication as a status offense in juvenile court under IC 31-37.
