Mississippi Concealed Carry Permit and Permitless Carry

Mississippi allows lawful adults to carry concealed firearms without a permit under the state's expansive carry framework, enacted through amendments codified across Title 45. A standard or enhanced concealed carry license issued by the Department of Public Safety remains available and provides reciprocity benefits and access to certain locations otherwise restricted. Enhanced permits require a state-approved training course. Local governments cannot impose additional concealed carry rules under Miss. Code 45-9-51 preemption. Statutory off-limits places include courthouses, polling locations, schools without authorization, and certain government meetings, though enhanced permit holders have access to some otherwise restricted areas.

Carrying in statutorily prohibited places or while disqualified can result in misdemeanor or felony penalties depending on the offense and location.
