Missouri Concealed Carry Statewide Standards

Missouri allows residents 19 and older (18 for military) to carry concealed firearms without a permit under Chapter 571, while still issuing optional concealed carry permits for reciprocity and other purposes. RSMo 21.750 prevents counties and cities from layering additional permit, training, or possession requirements on top of state law. Local ordinances cannot create gun-free zones beyond statutory prohibitions such as schools, courthouses, polling places, and bars. Private property owners and certain government buildings retain authority to post against carry. Cities may not enforce concealed carry bans against persons holding a Missouri or recognized out-of-state permit, even when restricting open carry.

Carrying in statutorily prohibited locations is a misdemeanor or felony depending on circumstances. Local rules conflicting with state concealed carry law are void and exposed to civil challenge under RSMo 21.750.
