Montana Tobacco 21 and Youth Access Limits

MCA 50-50A-103 sets the minimum legal sales age at 21 for tobacco products, alternative nicotine products, and vapor products. Retailers must verify identification for purchasers who appear under 30. Penalties apply to retailers who sell to underage customers, and possession or use by minors is also restricted. The statute aligns Montana with the federal Tobacco 21 law enacted in 2019.

Retailers may face fines, license suspension, and increased penalties for repeated underage sales; clerks may face individual citations.
