New Hampshire Recreational Drone Operation Rules

Federal Aviation Administration rules preempt most drone airspace and operational regulation. Recreational pilots must register drones above 0.55 lb, pass the TRUST safety test, fly under 400 feet, maintain visual line of sight, and avoid controlled airspace without LAANC authorization. New Hampshire RSA 207:57 prohibits using drones to harass wildlife, scout for hunting, or interfere with lawful hunting and trapping. RSA 644:9 prohibits drone surveillance that violates reasonable expectations of privacy. Municipalities may regulate takeoff and landing on town property but cannot regulate airspace.

FAA penalties may exceed $30,000 per violation. State wildlife harassment violations are misdemeanors with fines and potential license suspension.
