Wyoming Abandoned Vehicle Removal and Title Law

Under Wyoming Statutes Title 31, Chapter 13, a vehicle left on public property for more than 48 hours, or on private property without permission, may be declared abandoned. Law enforcement issues a removal order, and the towing operator must notify the registered owner and lienholders by certified mail. After the statutory waiting period, the vehicle may be sold at public auction or scrapped. The Wyoming Department of Transportation issues replacement abandoned-vehicle titles only after compliance with notice procedures. Local jurisdictions cannot shorten state notice timelines or bypass title-issuance requirements.

Owners face towing, storage, and administrative fees. Failing to reclaim within statutory windows results in loss of title and auction sale of the vehicle.
