Wyoming Abandoned Vehicle Removal and Title Law

Under Wyo. Stat. §§ 31-13-101 through 31-13-112, no one may abandon a vehicle on a highway or on public or private property without the owner's consent. A police officer with reasonable grounds may have a vehicle removed to a designated impound. A notice of intent to impound must remain on the vehicle at least 24 hours if it is on a highway and 5 days if it is on other public or private property. The towing operator and county notify the registered owner and lienholders. If the vehicle is not reclaimed within 30 days of the notice, title vests in the county government where it is impounded.

Owners face towing, storage, and administrative fees. Failing to reclaim within the statutory windows results in loss of title and sale or disposal of the vehicle by the county.
