Wyoming Bans Campaign Signs on State and Public Property

Under Wyoming Statute 22-25-115, written campaign advertising cannot be placed on or attached to any real or personal property of the state or its political subdivisions. Narrow exceptions cover the state and county fairgrounds and, subject to their governing boards, the University of Wyoming, community colleges, and school districts. Campaign materials go on municipal street rights-of-way only with the landowner's approval and the municipality's rules, and WYDOT permits them on state right-of-way inside a municipality to the same extent a city allows them on its own streets. Nothing in the section applies to any interstate highway. WYDOT crews remove signs left in rural and interstate right-of-way.

Campaign signs on state property or in rural and interstate highway right-of-way are removed by WYDOT. Placement inside a municipality without the city's authorizing rules is not permitted under the Election Code.
