Section 105-166(a) folds swimming pools into the county's residential permit fee schedule, listing "swimming pools (24 inches or deeper)" alongside decks, garages, and room additions as work requiring a residential building permit; a pool shallower than 24 inches falls outside that trigger. Once a pool project is permitted, Sec. 105-220, the 2021 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code as amended, governs the timeline: item (3) rewrites the expiration section to state "all permits are only valid for one year from the date of issuance," and item (4) adds a suspension rule under which "any permit issued shall become invalid if the authorized work is not commenced within six months after issuance of the permit, or if the authorized work is suspended or abandoned for a period of six months," unless the code official grants an extension "not to exceed 180 days each," capped at two extensions, with a possible added administrative fee.

Section 105-220 also deletes the Swimming Pool and Spa Code's own board of appeals section under item (7), routing any appeal instead to the county's Board of Examiners and Appeals under Chapter 5, division 3, and requires two sets of submittal plans under item (5).
