Unincorporated Shasta County does not have a separate pool ordinance for permitting; it builds pools and spas into the standard building-permit process administered by the Building Division of the Department of Resource Management. The County's General Information lists 'inground swimming pools/spas, and hot tubs where a septic tank is installed on the parcel' among projects that require a permit and an Environmental Health septic clearance, because a new pool can affect the septic disposal area.
