Sanger uses automated side-loading collection trucks operated by Mid Valley Disposal, which requires standardized cart placement for proper operation. Carts must be placed at the curb or edge of the street with the handle facing the property and the lid opening toward the street. Each cart should be separated by at least three feet from other carts, mailboxes, utility poles, parked vehicles, and overhanging branches to allow the mechanical arm to grip and empty the container. Bins should be on flat, level ground and not in gutters, on slopes, or behind parked cars. If a property does not have curb access, residents must place carts at the nearest accessible point along the public right-of-way as directed by the hauler. Green waste carts should not contain plastic bags, dirt, rocks, or treated lumber. Recycling carts should be free of contamination per the city's accepted-materials list. Improperly placed carts or contaminated loads may be left uncollected with a tag explaining the issue. The placement window is from 6:00 PM the prior evening through the scheduled morning pickup, with carts retrieved by evening on collection day.
