Yavapai County, AZ Trash & Recycling: Bin Placement Rules (2026)

Section 581, added to the county's Planning and Zoning Ordinance by the Board of Supervisors on September 2, 2008 and effective November 19, 2008, is a single, general containment duty: any owner, occupant, person in control, or manager of property in the unincorporated county must keep trash, garbage and refuse in a container of suitable size, shape and material, so that the contents can't be scattered by wind or rain and so that rodents and other vermin can't get into it. The section does not set a specific curbside set-out window or dictate where on the lot a can must sit; those questions are left to whatever hauler service the property uses.

5 requires refuse collection areas in a licensed park to be central and screened from public view, a stricter rule than the general single-container duty in Section 581 because a park serves multiple households from one collection point. H face their own added duty to keep a clearly marked trash container on site and may not use a public trash receptacle instead. A container left uncovered so contents blow into the street or draw vermin fails the standard even if the can itself is otherwise intact.
