Georgetown County, SC Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

There is no curbside bulk-item truck in unincorporated Georgetown County. Large household items get disposed of at the solid waste management complex, where Sec. 8-24(c)(5) explicitly lists 'bulk waste' as one of the categories billed at $45.00 per ton, the same rate the county charges for land clearing debris and construction and demolition debris. That same fee schedule sweeps in non-metallic boat hulls too, though a hauler has to strip the engine, fuel and oil first, and pays $80.00 per ton instead if landfill staff have to unload the boat themselves.

Homeowners get a break if they haul their own bulk items. Sec. 8-24(b)(2) exempts household residential waste and construction and demolition waste from the tipping fee entirely when an individual homeowner transports it to the complex in a noncommercial vehicle, up to a maximum of two loads per day. Beyond that daily cap, or if a commercial hauler brings the load instead, the $45.00-per-ton fee under Sec. 8-24(c)(5) applies. The Georgetown County Environmental Services Division, operating under the internal regulations manual the county administrator approves per Sec. 8-27, runs the solid waste complex where all of this bulk material is weighed and billed.
