Haltom City offers scheduled bulk trash pickup for large items that do not fit in the regular cart. Residents must request pickup through the Public Works Department and follow size, volume, and material rules.
Haltom City provides bulk trash collection for residential customers for items too large to fit in the 95-gallon cart. Eligible bulk items include furniture, mattresses, carpet rolls no longer than 4 feet, tree limbs bundled in 4-foot lengths and tied with biodegradable twine, small appliances, and bagged yard waste beyond the normal cart volume. Bulk pickups are scheduled on request through the Public Works Department at (817) 222-7700 or through the city website, typically with 1 to 2 weeks advance notice. The hauler specifies the pickup day and residents must place items at the curb the evening before. Total volume per pickup is generally capped at 4 cubic yards (roughly a 6-foot by 6-foot by 3-foot pile). Excess volume may require multiple scheduled pickups or disposal at the Tarrant County transfer station. Prohibited items include construction and demolition debris (drywall, concrete, lumber from remodels), hazardous waste (paint, solvents, chemicals, pesticides, motor oil, gasoline), Freon-containing appliances without the Freon removed and certified, tires (limit of 4 per year may apply through special programs), car batteries, propane tanks, and electronic waste such as televisions and computer monitors. Freon-containing appliances like refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners may be accepted if a licensed technician has removed the refrigerant and affixed a certification tag. White goods without Freon (stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters) are collected as bulk. Electronics, hazardous waste, and tires must go to the Tarrant County Environmental Collection Center in Fort Worth, which is free for Tarrant County residents with ID. Construction debris from contractors is the contractor's responsibility, not a city service. Illegal dumping of bulk items on vacant lots, alleys, or rights-of-way is a Class C misdemeanor with fines up to 2,000 dollars under Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 365 and up to 500 dollars per day under the Haltom City Code.
