Livonia collects bulk items curbside on the regular weekly service day, up to 6 cubic yards per household. Items must be set out with the cart and cannot include hazardous waste.
Bulk pickup in Livonia is included in regular weekly refuse service at no extra charge, subject to a limit of approximately 6 cubic yards per household per week. Acceptable items include furniture, mattresses, carpet (cut to 4-foot lengths and tied), small appliances, and bagged household trash that will not fit in the cart. Bulk items must be placed neatly beside the trash cart by 7:00 AM on the collection day. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners must have the compressor removed or be tagged by a licensed technician certifying refrigerant removal. Construction debris, concrete, dirt, tires, automotive parts, propane tanks, and hazardous materials are not accepted curbside; residents should use the Wayne County household hazardous waste drop-off or a licensed hauler. Electronics are collected through special DPW events and the Livonia e-waste drop-off. Repeat violations or dumped construction waste are ticketed. Multi-family buildings of 5 or more units use private haulers and are not eligible for municipal bulk pickup.
