Mahwah Township collects bulk household items curbside on a per-week limit and schedules separate appointment-based pickup for white-goods appliances through the Department of Public Works.
Mahwah residents may set out up to three bulk items on the second scheduled trash collection day of the week. Eligible bulk items typically include furniture, mattresses, rugs, and similar household goods, but exclude construction debris, tires, propane tanks, hazardous waste, and electronics. Appliances classified as white goods (refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters) are picked up only on the fourth Thursday of each month and only by advance arrangement with the DPW at 201-529-3344. Refrigerant-containing units must be tagged showing CFC removal by a licensed technician.
Exceeding the three-item limit, setting bulk out on non-bulk days, or placing appliances curbside without scheduling can lead to non-collection, fines, and removal at owner expense.
