Pulaski County, AR Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Bulk collection covers the items § 8-17(d) carves out of ordinary "solid waste": household appliances such as stoves, refrigerators and freezers, furniture, tires, metal automobile parts, and similar items that could damage collection equipment. Section 8-19(a) entitles every household with an active sanitation account to two free heavy-trash trips per year, on request; a third or later request in the same year is billed at $40 per trip. Placement follows the same curb rule as weekly garbage under § 8-18(a): heavy items go within five feet of the edge of the public road or street curb nearest the residence, though § 8-18(c) lets the department also service qualifying private roads that are passable to a garbage truck, carry three or more households, and have a signed maintenance agreement.

Residents with an unusually large load, or who don't want to wait for a scheduled trip, can call the department under § 8-19(c) to arrange a special collection; the department sets the exact charge, with a minimum of $40, based on the trip length, crew size and time required. Section 8-19(d) suspends normal collection on county holidays designated by the county judge and quorum court, with advance notice given by newspaper, radio and television about whether pickup happens on the holiday or is simply pushed to the next service day.

Bulk collection is billed and administered separately from the routine weekly solid-waste fee set under § 8-20, and both are collected either on a resident's water bill or, for unmetered households, on a quarterly bill from the department.
