Carver County, MN Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Carver County Code of Ordinances § 50.008(B)(3) requires the owner of a non-farm property to cause the contents of all mixed municipal solid waste (MMSW) containers to be removed for processing or disposal no less frequently than once every 15 calendar days; non-putrescible source-separated recyclables can sit longer than that without triggering a violation. Farm properties get a longer window under § 50.008(B)(4): containers must be emptied at least once every 30 calendar days, provided the storage does not create a nuisance or pollution problem, and source-separated materials on farm properties may likewise sit longer than 30 days.

Every property must be supplied with adequate MMSW containers, either by the owner or under contract with a commercial hauler, per § 50.008(B)(1). Funding for this collection infrastructure comes from a service fee the County Board imposes on solid waste management services provided to every parcel of land in the county, assessed with real estate taxes under § 50.007(B)(1), pursuant to the county's authority under M.S. §§ 473.811 and 400.08. A property owner who believes their service charge is wrong can appeal to the Environmental Services Department within 30 days of the billing statement, per § 50.007(B)(6), with a further appeal available to the County Board of Commissioners within 30 days of the department's decision under § 50.007(B)(8).
