Gastonia, NC Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

City Code § 11-53(a) gives the administrator authority to establish, and revise from time to time, the city's collection routes and schedules, with a current copy kept on file in the administrator's office; the council may also set policy on how many times per week different classes of premises get service and how many receptacles the city will service per premises. Section 11-57 implements this for households: city-served residential curbside collection happens once a week on a day the administrator designates, rollout containers cannot be placed at curbside before the day preceding the scheduled collection date, and any container put out must be removed by midnight on collection day.

Residents must also follow the rollout container rules in § 11-60, including a 200-pound weight cap per container (excluding the container's own weight), keeping carts clear of parked cars and obstacles, and not storing them in front of the home or the street-facing building line. Nonresidential customers get similar once-a-week service under § 11-58, capped at 400 gallons from no more than four containers weekly before conversion to bulk container service is required.
