Lake County, FL Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Section 23-18 of the Lake County Code establishes the county's residential Collection Service: the county operates Collection for occupants of Residential Property, and under § 23-18(d) Garbage is picked up a minimum of one time per week, Recycling one time per week, and Yard Trash one time per week, each on its own Scheduled Collection Day. Section 23-19(a) sets normal Collection Monday through Friday, with Garbage and Recycling collected on the same day and Yard Trash on a separate day; Customers are notified of their specific Scheduled Collection Days.

Section 23-19(b) handles holidays: if a Scheduled Collection Day falls on a Holiday, that day's Collection moves to the first day after the holiday, and every other Scheduled Collection Day that week shifts back one day, so a Customer who normally receives service on Friday would receive it on Saturday during a holiday week. Section 23-19(c) allows the Director to approve twice-weekly Garbage pickup for a route, expanding the Scheduled Collection Days to Monday through Saturday; if a holiday hits during a twice-weekly schedule, there is only one Collection that week, on the next Scheduled Collection Day.

Section 23-20(a) obligates the county to provide each Customer one Garbage Cart and one Recycling Cart in one of three sizes, 35, 64, or 96 gallons, which remain county property and must be left at the property if a Customer moves. Garbage Carts cannot be loaded past 150 pounds or the cart's rated capacity, whichever is less, per § 23-21(g).
