Under Fayetteville Code Sec. 22-10, the Public Services Solid Waste Division sets collection routes and schedules. Each unit places household waste in up to two approved 96-gallon carts within one foot of the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the collection day; carts go out no earlier than the day before. Collection begins at 6:00 a.m. and carts not out by then are not collected until the next scheduled day. Unincorporated Cumberland County is not served by the city; residents there rely on their municipality or a private/subscription hauler and county convenience sites.
Enforced by the City Manager or designee. Chapter 22 violations carry civil penalties per the Solid Waste Fee Schedule and are a misdemeanor with a fine of $50 to $500 under N.C.G.S. 14-4; each day is a separate offense.
