Chapter 8.08 governs solid waste in County Service Area No. 1, and Section 8.08.160 licenses and regulates the private and commercial haulers who collect commercial solid waste there. An annual license from Iron County is required before hauling commercial waste, and licensed vehicles must be kept in good mechanical condition, fully enclosed on the sides and bottom, marked on the outside with the hauler's name and phone number, and compliant with state and federal transport rules; all solid waste carried by a hauler must be contained, tied, or enclosed to stop leaking, spilling, or blowing during transport.

A separate sentence in that same subsection reaches beyond licensed haulers: it is unlawful to haul garbage, refuse, rubbish, leaves, tree limbs, or other waste material in any vehicle on a road in Iron County unless the load is properly and adequately covered. The same subsection also covers landfill fee timing for haulers, insurance requirements, disposal of deceased animals only at the county landfill with a special handling fee, and a limit of four free tires per year for county residents before a per-tire fee applies.
