Clay County, FL Trash & Recycling: Pickup Rules & Schedules (2026)

Clay County's Solid Waste Franchising and Collection Ordinance, codified as Appendix D, Article III of the county code, governs curbside timing for the unincorporated area. C, Receptacles and Bundles for Hand Pickup Service customers must sit at ground level on the customer's own property, or on the right-of-way frontage immediately adjacent to the travelled, graded or paved portion of the road; they can never be left on a neighbor's property, in a gutter, ditch or sidewalk, or within the travelled or paved roadway itself. on collection day itself, and must sit within 10 feet of the paved edge, next to the customer's driveway.

on the franchisee's designated days, and pickups are not skipped for holidays, though the Division may approve a rescheduled route with five days' notice. 5 requires the franchisee to collect garbage, rubbish, yard trash and recyclables once weekly for Hand Pickup Service customers, with an optional second weekly pickup, provided each waste stream is separated: garbage in approved Receptacles weighing no more than 50 pounds filled, and yard trash, rubbish or recyclables not suited to a can placed in Bundles. Garbage found mixed with yard trash, rubbish or recyclables, or set out on the wrong stream's scheduled day, is cause for the franchisee to skip that pickup.

Receptacles the Solid Waste Division has not approved must be tagged by the franchisee explaining the deficiency, and customers who will not use the designated curb spot must instead arrange special-service collection. White goods and bulky items are picked up monthly by appointment between the customer and franchisee.
